乘胜逐北的典故

秦昭王56年，秦国国君秦昭王不听大将白起的劝阻，派五校大夫王陵率兵攻打赵国，惨败而归，昭王派应侯范雎去请白起去带兵，白起给范雎讲赵国的局势变了，不是他不想乘胜追击，而是此刻不宜进攻。昭王不听，结果无功而返。
